Jazz veteran Dave Holland returns with a new all-star trio for his upcoming album Another Land.
The prolific bassist, composer and bandleader enlists the talents of guitarist Kevin Eubanks and drummer Obed Calvaire for a power-packed set of original music.
Another Land was recorded after a highly lauded residency at the Village Vanguard in New York. “We were doing a continuous set,” Holland explains. “Once we started we very rarely stopped — we just kept going.”
Since joining Miles Davis’s band in 1968, Holland has had a lucrative career in jazz that has lasted 50 years. He has collaborated with greats including Joe Henderson, Betty Carter, Stan Getz, Jack DeJohnette, Kenny Wheeler, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Chick Corea and more.
Holland’s output as a bandleader between 1972 and 2003 includes some of ECM’s most influential albums, helping him build a global audience for his virtuosic technique, rhythmic feel and open-eared approach to jazz.
Now working with Edition Records, Holland released his last album Good Hope in 2019, which he recorded with Zakir Hussain and Chris Potter.
Another Land arrives May 28 via Edition Records.
