Canadian jazz instrumental ensemble Carn Davidson 9 (CD9) is back on the scene with their new album, Reverence, out on November 1. Carn Davidson 9 is the brainchild of JUNO award-winning artists, trombonist William Carn and saxophonist Tara Davidson. Formed in 2010 as a collaborative project between the two artists, this co-led ensemble is an opportunity for both artists to craft their original compositions for this chamber jazz instrumentation.
The ensembles consists of William Carn (Trombone, Vocals), Tara Davidson (Alto Sax, Flute, Vocals), Kelly Jefferson (Tenor Sax & Clarinet), Shirantha Beddage (Bari Sax & Bass Clarinet), Jason Logue (Trumpet), Kevin Turcotte (Trumpet), Christian Overton (Bass Trombone), Andrew Downing (Acoustic Bass) and Ernesto Cervini (Drums).
Reverence is the ensemble’s fourth album and the follow-up to 2021’s The History of Us, Reverence pays tributes to some of Carn’s and Davidson’s favourite musical heros such as Joshua Redman, Christine Jensen, Sergio Mendes to name a few.
Carn and Davidson recently gave us an exclusive interview during Afternoon Drive with Brad Barker to chat more about the album and their upcoming shows.
Reverence comes out Friday, November 1 on all platforms. Take a listen to the full interview and the lead single “Joy (For Kenny).”
