Toronto-based instrumental group Blue Season is set to release their debut EP called Live Session 918.

Led by saxophonist, composer and producer Liam Mitro, the quintet seeks to “redefine jazz” by incorporating “ambient electronic meditations and cinematic tapestries of sounds.”

The band features tenor saxophonist Leland Whitty, pianist Chris Pruden, bassist Julian Anderson-Bowes and drummer Eric West.

Members of Blue Season are also involved with prominent Canadian acts such as BADBADNOTGOOD and Daniel Caesar.

Mitro participated in JAZZ.FM91’s Jazzology program while he was studying at Humber College.

The Live Session 918 EP features four original instrumental compositions that were recorded live at The Music Gallery in Toronto.
