Pianist and composer Bill Mays has garnered some generous accolades from writers on jazz. All capturing the essence of his playground like atmosphere at the piano, coupled with a respect for the music he plays and a complete level of comfort at the keyboard: Leslie Gourse of Keyboard Magazine has written this about Mays: “…sensitive piano playing, composing and arranging.” His music is cool and sophisticated.  Mark Miller’s words are as comprehensively capturing: “Mays plays on pure imagination, that exalted level where mere technical concerns have been long forgotten.”

May’s played as a bandsman with the U.S. Navy also studying at the Naval School of Music. He’s had his grand turns with recording studio and TV studio work, truly stellar experiences that all added to his ability to be so very much in the moments. You know those people who can tell a good story and hold your attention from beginning to end?

Mays is one of those people. That is simply his way; pull up a chair and let the storytelling begin.
