Trumpeter Benjamin Lee is currently in grade 11 at Upper Canada College It is his second year in the JAZZ.FM91 Youth Big Band, and his sixth on the trumpet. During that time, he has had the privilege of working briefly with Brian O’Kane and participated in the Humber Community Music Program while playing in the various bands his school has to offer.
As a musician, Ben would like to develop his range and sight reading abilities while continuing to improve holistically as a trumpeter and a jazz musician. His greatest inspirations in music include Kenny Dorham, Clifford Brown, Lee Morgan, Dick Oatts, and John Coltrane. When his isn’t playing the trumpet, Ben participates actively in his school debate team and enjoys running recreationally. He is looking forward to another year of challenging charts and prime performances with some of the best bandmates available in Canada.
