Toronto-based jazz trumpeter Alexis Baro has just released the new single “Sunlight Sunshine,” a summertime groove featuring the soulful vocals of Joanna Majoko.

It follows Baro’s latest album Mi Raiz, which was named one of JAZZ.FM91’s top albums of 2022. The Cuban-Canadian musician was previously nominated for a Juno Award for jazz album of the year (solo) in 2019.

After earning a reputation as one of the Toronto jazz scene’s most exciting up-and-coming singers, Majoko released her debut EP, No Holding Backin 2021. She then became part of the Canadian jazz supergroup The Ostara Project, whose debut recording was also named one of JAZZ.FM91’s top albums of 2022.

With their combined talents, the pair deliver an infectious melody and uplifting lyrics that aim to transport listeners to a sun-drenched paradise.
