Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Alex Cuba recently released his ninth album El Swing Que Yo Tengo.
Recorded in his newly built recording studio in Smithers, B.C., the album finds the Cuban-Canadian musician defying genre more than ever before — including incorporating electronic elements into the organic sonic identity to which his audience has become accustomed.
“Creating in a way that truly felt limitless, album number nine is another collection of songs for the soul from my musical universe,” Cuba says. “It was a fun learning experience for me — exploring how to mix my organic sound with electronic elements, slapping my bass on the title track, and reimagining the sound of a legendary Cuban song. Exploring music in a new way was simply fun.”
Cuba joined us on Café Latino to tell us more about the album.
