Toronto-based vocalist, songwriter and bandleader Ale Nuñez has announced the release of her debut EP, Under the Lemon Tree, set for release on April 20.
Under the Lemon Tree is the first EP since Nuñez graduated from Humber College with a Bachelor of Music degree last year. The EP is preceded by three singles, “Lemon Tree”, “I Think of You (Time and Time Again)”, and “Farewell”. She was also named as one of the finalists of the 2025 Ella Fitzgerald Jazz Vocal Competition by The Blues Alley Jazz Society, the non-profit arm of one of America’s oldest jazz supper club. The winner will be announced on April 26. The EP also features 2024 Mary Alice Stuart Scholarship recipient Eric Liang on piano and 2024-2025 Jazzology participant Tymish Koznarsky on alto saxophone.
Nuñez was also a participant in the 2024 season of jazz.fm91’s Discover Women in Jazz Program, sponsored by the Pat and Tony Adams Freedom Fund for the Arts.
Under the Lemon Tree is out now on streaming platforms. Nuñez celebrated the release with a show on April 16 at Sellers & Newel Second-Hand Books at 672 College Street.
