JAZZ.FM91 is proud to present African-American Women of Jazz and Blues in North America: The Vocalists in celebration of Black History Month.
In this special feature, we will showcase African-American vocalists of jazz and blues from the late 19th century to the present time. From Bessie Smith to Etta Jones to Esperenza Spalding, we will look at what makes them great, including the impeccable control of their voice.
This special feature is curated and narrated by trombonist and composer Ron Westray, the Oscar Peterson Chair in Jazz Performance at York University.
