At JAZZ.FM91, we are all deeply saddened by the tragic death last week of George Floyd in the U.S. and empathize with the outpouring of grief and demands for justice and systemic change.

As Canada’s jazz station, we are reminded that the genre originated with African-American artists and today is embraced in all its varied forms by musicians of almost every race, colour and creed. The jazz community is blessed to be one of inclusivity and equality.

Through their art, musicians speak a common language of peace and harmony, of respect and fairness, of innovation and change. Their fervent hope is that what they aspire to in their music permeates individual lives and entire societies.

Part of JAZZ.FM91’s vision is to enrich the cultural, educational and community experience of our listeners. Through the music we play and the values we hold, we hope to do our part to create a caring community free of racism and injustice.
