Kandace Springs returns with a new album paying tribute to Billie Holiday with Lady in Satin, set to be released on May 9, 2025 via SRP Records. The album is Springs’ fifth album to date and the follow-up to 2024’s Run Your Race, dedicated to the memory of her father Scat Springs, who passed away in 2021.

The new album from the acclaimed vocalist is both a tribute and a reimagining of Lady Day’s classic album of the same name, released in 1958. Although Holiday’s Last Recording was her final studio album before her untimely passing in 1959, Lady in Satin is widely considered as her official final masterpiece.

Joining Springs on the album is the 60-piece Portuguese ensemble Orquestra Clássica de Espinho, known for their fusions of jazz, fado, flamenco and more. “I’d always wanted to do a record to pay tribute to Billie Holiday,” Springs recalls. “And I’d always wanted to work with an orchestra. Finally I realized that this was the way to do both…From the minute we first talked, I knew that we were going to make a great album together.” The album also marks the first time Springs has ever recorded with an orchestra.

The album is preceded by the lead single, “You’ve Changed,” which ironically was the first song Springs recorded with the Orquestra. “The moment I first sang with the orchestra, I couldn’t believe how beautiful it sounded,” says Springs. “Listening now, I still can’t believe it. And I can’t wait for people to hear it.”

Lady in Satin arrives May 9, 2025 via SRP Records and wherever music is sold.
