Joni Mitchell is coming to the JUNOS in 2026! The legendary artist, whose work spans genres and generations, will be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 55th Annual JUNO awards ceremony in March. The news was announced at a JUNOS media event on November 24 as they unveiled their first lineup of appearances for the 2026 award ceremony.
“Joni Mitchell has profoundly impacted folk, rock, pop and jazz music through her distinctive voice, innovative guitar playing, and a unique ability to craft poetic and thought-provoking lyrics,” the JUNOS share in a statement.
Mitchell recently released her retrospective collection, Joni’s Jazz, featuring 61 songs selected by the icon herself which speak to the influence of jazz on Mitchell’s artistry. She is also nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Historical Album for her archival release, Joni Mitchell Archives – Volume 4: The Asylum Years (1976-1980).
The JUNOS also announced Nelly Furtado as the 2026 Canadian Music Hall of Fame Inductee, citing her as an “undisputed icon whose innovative songwriting shaped an era and transformed pop music.”
The 55th Annual JUNO Awards takes place Sunday March 29, 2026, live from TD Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario.
