An expanded edition of Holly Cole’s Dark Moon album is out now accompanied with a brand new single celebrating a jazz great’s birthday!

This new edition of Cole’s latest album features a sultry rendition of Mel Torme’s “Comin’ Home Baby,” released today on the eve of his 100th birthday on September 13. Featured on Dark Moon includes Cole’s longtime bandmates and collaborators Aaron Davis (piano), George Koller (bass), Davide Direnzo (drums) and John Johnson (saxophone). It also features guest appearances from Howard Levy of Bela Fleck And The Flecktones on harmonica and guitarist Kevin Breit.

“I’ve always loved the up-tempo Mel Torme version of “Comin’ Home Baby,” says Cole. “One day it struck me that the song could also sound great sung in a sultrier tempo, with a laid-back feel. Since it’s an old-fashioned call and response, I decided to sing only the call and have members of the band handle the response. I think it really lets the tune breathe.”

Dark Moon (Expanded) is available now on all streaming platforms. Take a listen to “Comin’ Home Baby” linked below. A music video for “Comin’ Home Baby'” will be released on September 26. Cole starts her Western Canadian Dark Moon Tour on September 13 in Port Theatre in Nanaimo, BC.
