Nine-time GRAMMY award-winning bassist, composer and producer Christian McBride makes a BIG return as bandleader with his 21st studio album, Without Further Ado, Vol.1, his first big band album in five years since 2020’s GRAMMY-award winning For Jimmy, Wes & Oliver and the follow-up to 2024’s But Who’s Gonna Play the Melody?, his joint album with fellow bassist and composer Edgar Meyer.

Without Further Ado, Vol.1 is a star-studded affair featuring guest appearances by Sting, Andy Summers, Jeffrey Osborne, Samara Joy, José James, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Dianne Reeves and Antoinette Henry. The album features reimagined arrangements of classic songs coupled with the unique vocals brought to us by the guest vocalists.

With this new album, McBride continues to position himself at the forefront as the unofficial leader of the modern-day jazz renaissance. In addition to the multiple hats he wears, McBride is also the executive producer for R&B/Soul singer Ledisi’s tribute album, For Dinah, in honour of Dinah Washington, coming out October 3.

Without Further Ado, Vol.1 comes out August 29 via Mack Avenue Records. Take a listen to the lead singles “Murder by Numbers” featuring Sting and Andy Summers and “Old Folks” featuring Samara Joy.
