Venue: The Duke Live
Start time: 7:30 PM

The holidays are behind us and the winter chill has set in and I truly hope all of our wonderful fans had a safe and terrific holiday! Here we go with a new year and more professional big band jazz at The Duke Live! We are so very much looking forward to a fantastic year.
The best way to beat the winter blahs is to swing on down to the historic Duke Live on Monday January 27th for some hot swinging music with the award winning George Lake BIG Band. This coming Monday we have a great line up of selections and we’ll be featuring VINCENT WOLFE and RENA GAILE on vocals!
We’ll be performing our usual “best of the big band era” and beyond with tunes made famous by Miller, Ellington , Kenton, Basie and more. We’ll celebrate the birthdays of British musicians Aker Bilk and Ronnie Scott in our gone but not forgotten segment with our Paul Schofield featured on Bilks “Stranger on the Shore” on sporano sax. Piano man Ken Cory will have a great feature on the Count Basie chart “Blues in Hoss Flat” which was featured in the Jerry Lewis comedy film “The Errand Boy” which you can see here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kS21T_p0pNA
Vocal selections include a couple of new duets by Rena and Vincent ” It Had to Be You” an old Isham Jones hit made new again by Michael Buble and Barbra Streisand and “It Don’t Mean a Thing” the great Ellington chart given new life by Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett. Rena will be introducing a hot new chart “Comes Love” as arranged for Carmen McRae. Vincent will be hitting a 70s vibe with Billy Joel’s big hit “Just The Way You Are” and “Birth of The Blues” a la “Mister Show Business” himself, Sammy Davis Jr.
We’ll be working hard again to maximize the dance floor at The Duke but feel free to come and just tap your toes or even sing along if that’s your preference.
Having a party? Come on down for food, beverages and music all rolled into one and you don’t have to clean up the house before or afterwards!
It’s always a good idea to make a reservation.
Lots of parking behind The Duke in their parking lot and along Leslie Street.
Downbeat is 7:30 and we’ll have you home in time for the news.
CAN HARDLY WAIT!
