Event: Autumn Echoes: Pierre-Yves Martel
Date: November 12, 2021
Venue: Royal City Mission
Start time: 8:00 PM
End time: 10:00 PM
Following our hugely successful September six-day in-person event, the Guelph Jazz Festival is delighted to announce a series of six more concerts in November. ‘GJF Autumn Echoes’ aims to recall the great feelings the festival engendered, and to project them forward by featuring a range of world-class creative improvising musicians and groups, each to be presented at indoor concerts at Royal City Mission, 50 Quebec Street, Guelph.
Friday 12 November 8pm: Montreal composer-improviser Pierre-Yves Martel is a polymath performer who has, at stages in his renowned career, channelled his consummately experimental musical vision through the double bass and the Renaissance viola da gamba. His current fixation is the pedal steel guitar, which, in combination with synthesiser, he will wield in a solo recital of dreamlike wonder and detailed sonic sculpture.
GJF Autumn Echoes concerts are $12 General Admission and $10 Student, Seniors & Underwaged. Advance tickets go on sale through this website on 1 November. Tickets, if still available, can also be purchased at the door.
