Oscar Peterson & Oliver Jones: A Celebration

Date: Saturday, December 9th
Venue: The Living Arts Centre, Mississauga

In this 150th year of Canadian confederation, and 20 years of showcasing exceptional artists at the Living Arts Centre, there can be no better way to honour these milestones than celebrate the unequaled careers and music of two great Canadian jazz icons, Oscar Peterson and Oliver Jones.

Working with curator and producer Frank Francis of Caliban Arts Theatre and musical director Ron Westray, the LAC is proud to present three generations of artists, performing in the pre-eminent jazz event of the year. This will be an unforgettable evening featuring award-winning piano luminaries Monty Alexander, D.D. Jackson, Robi Botos, and Marc Cary.

They will be joined by the incomparable Canadian vocalist Dione Taylor, percussionist/drummer Kahil El’Zabar, bassist Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Grammy-winning saxophonist Casey Benjamin and JUNO-winning bassist Brandi Disterheft.

In an evening of such outstanding highlights, Oliver Jones will receive the inaugural Living Arts Centre Achievement of Excellence Award.
