SUMMARY:RCM: Bang on a Can All‑Stars: Reich and Glass at 90
DESCRIPTION:The Bang on a Can All-Stars have collaborated and toured with fellow New Yorkers Philip Glass and Steve Reich for more than 30 years. This concert features Glassworks\, exclusively arranged by Michael Riesman for Bang on a Can All-Stars\, alongside Reich’s acclaimed rock-infused Electric Counterpoint\, for electric guitar\, in honor of these two outstanding composers during their milestone 90th birthday year. \nIn 1982 Philip Glass became the first composer since Aaron Copland to join the CBS Masterworks label. His first album for Masterworks\, Glassworks\, tripled all sales projections\, and was lauded by audiences and critics alike. But Glass never performed the complete album live with his touring ensemble. Celebrating the legendary composer’s 90th Birthday year (2027)\, Bang on a Can All-Stars perform a brand-new arrangement of the iconic Philip Glass album in its entirety for the very first time. \nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:RCM: Don Was and the Pan‑Detroit Ensemble
DESCRIPTION:Six-time Grammy Award-winning musician\, producer\, and composer Don Was [Was (Not Was)] channels the soul of the Motor City through a blend of steamy jazz\, juke-joint blues\, and loose-limbed funk with the Pan-Detroit Ensemble. \nThe Pan-Detroit Ensemble is comprised of top-tier jazz musicians from Don’s hometown\, including longtime collaborator saxophonist Dave McMurray and Eminem’s Oscar-winning collaborator\, keyboardist Luis Resto. Additional members include trombonist Vincent Chandler\, trumpeter John Douglas\, drummer Jeff Canaday\, percussionist Mahindi Masai\, guitarist Wayne Gerard\, and vocalist Steffanie Christi’an. \n“There’s a unique sound and feel to Detroit that permeates the music in a way that resonates all over the globe\,” says Was. “There’s a rawness\, a lack of pretension\, and an unmistakable underlying groove that reflects the people and culture of the entire city.” \nAfter the concert\, enjoy a beverage and more music at the Postlude Performance featuring a local emerging artist in the Leslie & Anna Dan Galleria. \nBUY TICKETS
