SUMMARY:Eisenman/Jefferson Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Mark Eisenman – Piano\nKelly Jefferson – Tenor\nNeil Swainson – Bass\nMorgan Childs – Drums\n\nA new quartet. In addition to being a pianist of great clarity and discipline\, Mark has been developing his compositional skills. His tunes appear on recordings by a variety of groups. In Mark’s own words\, what is most rewarding to him as a performer is the sense that “…everyone is having a good time because that means the music is good.” With an outlook such as this\, it should come as no surprise that he frequently works Toronto’s major jazz spots. He is a skillful soloist\, a versatile ensemble player and a thoughtful and sensitive accompanist. In 1999 Mark received The Jazz Report Award for “Acoustic Pianist of the Year.”

SUMMARY:The Singers 2: Class 2 of 4
DESCRIPTION:Peggy Lee & Shirley Horn: “Cool & Mellow” \nThe second class will examine the lives and work of these two ultra-cool ladies of song. Renaissance woman Peggy Lee was a successful actor\, composer and poet as well as one of the most popular singers in the history of jazz. Shirley Horn\, one of the few female jazz vocalists of her day who was also an accomplished instrumentalist\, was known for her smoky contralto voice and devastating way with a ballad.
