SUMMARY:RCM: John Beasley’s Unlimited Miles: Miles Davis at 100
DESCRIPTION:Under the direction of Grammy Award-winning pianist\, composer\, and arranger John Beasley\, star‑studded musicians Marcus Strickland on saxophone\, Sean Jones on trumpet\, Ben Williams on bass\, and Terreon Gully on drums delve into the visionary spirit and boundless creativity of Miles Davis. \nA musical shapeshifter with deep jazz roots\, Beasley performed with Miles Davis and Freddie Hubbard in his twenties and has since collaborated with Dianne Reeves\, Christian McBride\, Chaka Khan\, A.R. Rahman\, Chucho Valdés\, and Steely Dan\, among others. \n“Beasley\, the one-time keyboardist for Freddie Hubbard and Miles Davis\, reflects a variety of generational influences\, incorporating the emphatic chordal clusters of Herbie Hancock\, the rhythmic quirkiness of Monk and the lush intelligence of Art Tatum into a highly refined personal voice.” (Los Angeles Times) \nAfter the concert\, enjoy a beverage and more music at the Postlude Performance in the Leslie and Anna Dan Galleria. \nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:RCM: Béla Fleck: My Bluegrass Heart
DESCRIPTION:The banjo visionary leads an all‑star ensemble through some new music and classic tunes\, blending bluegrass roots with jazz and classical influences. \nOver the last four decades\, Béla Fleck has made a point of boldly going where no banjo player has gone before\, a musical journey that has earned him 19 Grammys in nine different fields\, including country\, pop\, jazz\, instrumental\, classical\, and global music. But his roots are in bluegrass\, and that is where he returns with his band of all-star players\, My Bluegrass Heart. \nTaking its namesake from Fleck’s 2021 Grammy Award-winning album\, My Bluegrass Heart\, the album was the third chapter of a trilogy which began with the 1988 album\, Drive\, and continued in 1991 with The Bluegrass Sessions. Fleck’s band spotlights a multi-generational gamut of the best of bluegrass players\, all sporting a myriad of Grammy nominations\, as well as gigantic piles of IBMA awards for their instruments: fiddler Michael Cleveland\, mandolinist Dominick Leslie\, Jeff Partin on dobro\, bassist/multi-instrumentalist Mark Schatz\, and Jake Stargel on guitar. \nAfter the concert\, enjoy a beverage and more music at the Postlude Performance in the Leslie & Anna Dan Galleria. \nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:RCM: Aga Khan Master Musicians
DESCRIPTION:The Aga Khan Master Musicians create music inspired by their own deep roots in the cultures of the Middle East and Mediterranean Basin\, South Asia\, Central Asia\, and China. \nBrought together by the Aga Khan Music Programme to explore how musical innovation can contribute to the revitalization of cultural heritage\, the Master Musicians are venerated performers and composer-arrangers who appear on the world’s most prestigious stages while also serving as preeminent teachers\, mentors\, and curators. Each of these exceptional artists has achieved mastery within a rigorous musical tradition defined by canonical styles\, repertoires\, pedagogy\, and performance techniques. \nAt the same time\, they share a belief that tradition can serve as an invaluable compass for an artistic search into new forms of creativity inspired\, but not constrained\, by the past. This search has led to a strikingly original body of work composed\, arranged\, and performed by the Master Musicians\, often joined by distinguished guests. Musicians include Basel Rajoub (Syria – saxophone)\, Feras Charestan (Syria – qanun)\, Yurdal Tokcan (Republic of Türkiye – oud)\, Abbos Kosimov (Uzbekistan – doira frame drum)\, and Vincent Peirani and Vincent Ségal (France – accordion and cello). \nAfter the concert\, enjoy a beverage and more music at the Postlude Performance in the Leslie & Anna Dan Galleria. \nPresented in partnership with the Aga Khan Museum \nBUY TICKETS
