DESCRIPTION:This year\, jazz.fm91’s contribution to the world stage for International Jazz Day on April 30 is a tribute concert to one of our best\, the maestro\, Guido Basso. A Canadian jazz icon\, once a member of Rob McConnell’s Boss Brass\, Basso was a trumpeter\, flugelhornist\, arranger\, composer and conductor. An intuitive player who approached his instrument with deep emotion and agility. \nGuido passed away in February of 2023 at the age of 85\, and our community misses him dearly. With this tribute concert\, we have pulled together some of Canada’s finest players in Chase Sanborn\, Brian O’Kane\, John Sherwood\, Terry Clarke\, Neil Swainson and Reg Schwager to honour him. \nDoors open at 7 p.m. and first set is at 8 p.m. If you want to make dinner reservations\, please contact Lula Lounge. \nSupported by… \n\n \n  \n
