DESCRIPTION:Ballet Creole presents the holiday classic\, Soulful Messiah this December 17-18\, 2022 as part of York University AMPD’s “Year of the Arts” Series. \nThis Canadian-grown holiday tradition is rooted in music and movements from the African Diaspora\, integrating traditional and contemporary vocabulary created by Caribbean-born\, Artistic Director\, Patrick Parson and inspired by the powerful musical arrangement of Quincy Jones entitled Handel’s Messiah – A Soulful Celebration. \nOver the past 20 years\, this ballet has grown and cultivated into a truly inspiring celebration of life\, death and love with every song full of purpose and interconnected meaning. The dance vocabulary includes\, tap\, jazz\, afro-caribbean\, ballet\, contemporary\, hip hop and free-style and the musical score includes gospel\, R&B\, pop and more. \nThe diverse range of disciplines and styles are connected by the vision for universal love.
