SUMMARY:Guarded Girls
DESCRIPTION:Written by Charlotte Corbeil-Coleman Directed by Richard Rose \nA new play from Governor General’s Literary Award and Dora Mavor Moore Award nominee. \nSeemingly separate lives dramatically come together in a dangerous climax in a women’s prison system. SUMMARY:Dry Powder
DESCRIPTION:The same week his private equity firm forced massive layoffs at a national grocery chain\, Rick Hannel threw himself an extravagant engagement party\, setting off a publicity nightmare. Fortunately\, Seth\, one of Rick’s partners\, has a dream of a deal to invest in an American-made luggage company for a song that will rescue his boss from the PR disaster. But Jenny\, Rick’s other partner\, has an entirely different plan: to maximize returns\, no matter the consequences. \nThe game is on in this razor-sharp\, satirical play about the price of success and the real cost of getting the deal done.

SUMMARY:Brendan Varty's Tessellate
DESCRIPTION:Brenden Varty’s Tessellate\nMulti-instrumentalist Brenden Varty and his unique blend of contemporary and chamber music has been piercing the Toronto music scene in recent years. After many years of performance and musical study in and around his hometown\, Brenden decided to continue his musical studies at Humber College (which he graduated from with highest honours is 2016)\, immersing himself in an environment that fosters both a jazz and contemporary-classical tradition. \nWhile at Humber\, Brenden gained proficiency in many instruments\, including\, but not limited to\, flute\, clarinet\, bass clarinet\, and baritone saxophone\, and his teachers include Alex Dean\, Pat LaBarbera\, Andy Ballantyne\, David Occhipinti\, and Shirantha Beddage. \nBrenden is also an ambitious composer and arranger\, and works to combine contemporary jazz with chamber music\, similar to those attempts made by John Zorn\, Jim Hall\, and Brad Mehldau. While he retains a passion and performance schedule for works from the standard jazz repertoire\, his recent focus has been on the composition and performance of music that reaches into the future while reflecting the jazz tradition. \nSpring Break 2013\nChristian Antonacci (trumpet)\, David Hodgson (saxophone)\, Bennett Rouleau (saxophone)\, Ian McGimpsey (saxophone/guitar)\, Bjorn Kriel (keyboard)\, Leighton Harrell (bass)\, Jacob Slous (percussion/drums)
