Listen to early Jazz online

You can now enjoy more than 1,000 hours of early Jazz recordings online courtesy of David W. Niven.

Niven, who was a high school teacher in New Jersey, spent his life collecting records, and by the 80s, transferred them to 650 cassette tapes for his children.

Since then, archivist Kevin J. Powers had uploaded the “Early Jazz Legends” to the web.

Head to archive.org, and you can choose to download or stream the over 1,000 hours of early Jazz music, featuring artists like Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington.
