Date: December 1st, 2017
Venue: Koerner Hall
Grammy-winning powerhouse vocalist, Lisa Fischer returns to Koerner Hall with her band Grand Baton on December 1st as part of The Royal Conservatory’s Quite Please, There’s A Lady on Stage concert series!
Their music is an organic gumbo of progressive rock, psychedelic soul and African, Middle Eastern and Caribbean rhythms with classical influences. Fischer is emerging as the most inventive and heartfelt interpreter of classic rock songs working today, after decades bringing raw soul to the stage for The Rolling Stones, Luther Vandross, Sting, Tina Turner and Nine Inch Nails. She was a legend in the music industry and everybody loved her sound, but she never put her own band together, never toured under her own name. Now, after years of supporting other artists, electrifying the world’s largest arenas with the power of her voice, Lisa Fischer has finally taken centre stage!
The Oscar-winning 2013 documentary Twenty Feet from Stardom changed the course of her musical journey, showcasing her virtuosity and vulnerability, earning her a second Grammy and left audiences eager to see and hear more.
