JAZZ.FM91 Posts Year-Over-Year Growth in Latest Ratings Book

The latest rating book was just released for Fall 2018 which covered the period of August 27th, 2018 through to November 25th, 2018. The ratings are provided by Numeris Radio Meter.

JAZZ.FM91 showed growth year-over-year. And our new programming, including Marc Jordan’s Songs I Wish I Had Written and Carol Welsman’s Sketches had a significant impact. Our top six shows were all conceived and developed in-house.

During the 13-week period, JAZZ.FM91’s share  percentage of our core demographic share of adults aged 35- to 64-years-old (the demographic our advertisers use) climbed to 1.6 versus 1.1 one year earlier.

Other notable trends comparing Fall 2018 to Fall 2017 (August 28th, 2017 through to November 26th, 2017) are positive, including the following trends in the adults 12+ demographic:

  • Share: 1.8 up from 1.5;
  • Weekly Reach: 373,600 up from 343,700;
  • Average Minute Audience: 6.3 up from 5.5.

Overall, our shows performed as follows:

Share (Adults 35 to 64):

  • Virtually all of our shows increased.
  • Top six shows include: Songs I Wish I Had Written, Jazzology, Music To Listen To Jazz By,
    First Listen, The Big Band Show and Sketches.
  • The highest ranked show by share is Songs I Wish I Had Written with 5.8.

Weekly Reach (Adults 35 to 64):

  • Virtually all of our shows increased.
  • Our top four programs include our four main day-parts: Afternoon Drive, Midday Jazz,
    Dinner Jazz and Music Mornings;
  • The show with the highest ranked weekly reach: Afternoon Drive with 61,600.

AMA (Adults 35 to 64):

  • Virtually all of our shows increased.

The industry experienced a decline during the 13-week 2018 Fall period versus the 13-week 2017 Fall period, with 16 of 27 Toronto radio stations posting a decline (based on A12+). However, JAZZ.FM91 went against this trend and saw growth in this period.

  • Our share went up from 1.1 to 1.6;

  • Our share went up from 1.5 to 1.8;

Close to half, 12 of the 27 stations, in the Toronto market experienced a decline during the 13-week 2018 Fall period versus the 13-week 2018 Summer period.

  • Our share went down from 2.1 to 1.8.

*JAZZFM.91 Audience share, year-over-year, increased:

  • A12 + | 1.8 Share | 373,600 weekly reach | up from fall 2017 Book by .3; 30,000 weekly reach
  • A35-64 | 1.6 Share | 153,800 weekly reach | up from fall 2017 book by .5 and
    2,800 weekly reach;
  • A25-54 |0.8 Share | 141,100 weekly reach | share is flat from fall 2017 and up by
    2,710 weekly reach;
  • All the above audience share increased from last Fall 2017 book

 

The following show and audience trends were noted in the 13-week 2018 Fall period versus the 13-week Summer period (May 28, 2018 – August 26, 2018). It was a strong quarter-over-quarter trend for our programming as we focused on new original programming:

Weekday Program Trending Report A35-64:

  1. Songs I Wish I Had Written: 3.1 to 5.8;
  2. Jazzology: 2.4 to 5.5;
  3. Music to Listen to Jazz By: 5.0 to 5.3;
  4. First Listen: 1.5 to 5.3;
  5. Sketches: 2.8 to 4.1.

Weekend Program Trending Report:

  1. Host Your Own Show: 3.8 to 4.5;
  2. The Big Band Show: 3.5 to 4.4;
  3. BLUZ.FM: 1.2 to 2.5
  4. Sound of Jazz: 0.7 to 2.4;
  5. *Road Stories: 1.6 to 2.1 (*Debuted in November 2018).
