Hendricks’ “Miles Ahead” re-scoring to premiere next week

American jazz lyricist and singer Jon Hendrick’s re-scoring of “Miles Ahead” is set to make its debut in New York City after nearly five decades.

Miles Ahead will be performed by the London Vocal Project and soloists from Manhattan’s St. Peter’s Church.

Production for Miles Ahead began as a response to the popularity of the album, Sing A Song Of Basie, reports DownBeat Magazine.

Hendrick’s credits his longtime friend, Quincy Jones, for help to produce the piece, as well as the Jazz Foundation of America.

The event will take place on February 17th, 2017.A European date has also been set for the spring.
