DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Playlist & Skratch Bastid

Over the past 15 years, Canada’s own turntable champion and crowd favourite, Skratch Bastid, has been steadily taking his craft to new heights and pushing the boundaries of live DJing. His phenomenally successful collaboration with the Afiara String Quartet, Spin Cycle, premiered at Koerner Hall.

On January 27th, Skratch returns with a new stereotype-busting, genre-defying show that features west Philadelphia’s DMC Champion and multiple Grammy and American Music Award winner, DJ Jazzy Jeff, known for his wildly successful hip hop duo, DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, with Will Smith.

Since 1985 DJ Jazzy Jeff has wowed audiences with his flawless turntable skills, innovative production and musical versatility. Over the course of his career, DJ Jazzy Jeff has achieved many accomplishments, including a DMC Championship,and multiple Gammy and American Music Awards and nominations. Most recently, he created The Playlist Retreat, an annual invite-only intimate gathering of progressive artists for the purpose of inspiration, motivation, and collaboration. It is an organic exchange between people who believe in the greater purpose of expression through music, which all takes place at his private residence outside Philadelphia. Paul Murphy, better known as his stage name, Skratch Bastid, is a world renowned DJ and producer. Known for his comfort and versatility in different styles – hip hop, funk, disco, club, rock and just about anything that makes people dance – Skratch Bastid has showcased his skills in over 30 countries. Two-time Juno nominated, and a three-time winner of the coveted Scribble Jam DJ Battle, Skratch Bastid is currently a global ambassador and judge for Red Bull’s Thre3style DJ competition.
