May 30, 2018 – Toronto, Canada – The Board of Directors of JAZZ.FM91 (“JAZZ.FM91” or the “Station”) announced today it has appointed Mr. Charles Cutts to serve as the Station’s Interim Chief Executive Officer replacing Mr. Ross Porter C.M. who has stepped down to become President Emeritus after serving as JAZZ.FM91’s President and CEO for the past 14 years. Mr. Porter recently celebrated his 40th anniversary in broadcasting and will now spend more time with his family and his ailing wife.
Mr. Cutts joined the JAZZ.FM91 Board of Directors in April 2018 and presently serves as a consultant to the arts and entertainment industry. In 2015 Mr. Cutts retired after serving for 33 years as President and CEO of Roy Thomson and Massey Hall and previously the O’Keefe Centre (currently the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts). These organizations consistently presented the best artists in the world while maintaining an enviable record of responsible financial stewardship. Numerous industry and civic awards mark Charles’ achievements both as a professional and as a volunteer contributing to the positive reputation and overall vibrancy of the City of Toronto.
As Interim CEO, Mr. Cutts will be the executive representative on the Board and assumes overall responsibility for management of the Station including oversight of the members of the Station’s Executive Leadership Team. Concurrent with these leadership changes, the Board has established a Special Committee to undertake a review of the Station’s organizational structure and scope. As part of this review, prior to the appointment of a permanent President and Chief Executive Officer, the Board will identify the attributes that will be required to lead the organization in the next stage of its growth.
