Bill & Jesse King

Bill King has been nominated for three Juno Awards, won new artist of the year with his Rockit 88 Band at the Maple Blues Awards, and has earned several honours and nominations from the National Jazz Awards and the Jazz Journalists Association. Bill can be heard on numerous recordings from Stan Rodgers, John Allan Cameron, The Rockit 88 Band, The Rhythm Express, The Saturday Nite Fish Fry and more, and has produced vocalists Liberty Silver, Sophie Milman, Shakura S’Aida, June Garber, Cornelia Luna, Kinga Hemming, and many others. Bill has worked in radio at Q 107, CIUT 89.5 FM, Newstalk 1010 and more. He published the Jazz Report Magazine from 1988 to 2006 and has been artistic director of the Beaches International Jazz Festival since its inception in 1988.

Jesse King has been on the music scene since 1987 working as musician, engineer, producer and radio host. The two-time Juno Award winner and eight-time Juno Award nominee has been involved in radio since 1993 working at Toronto’s CHUM as a producer and in the satellite department. Alongside host and co-producer Bill King, Jesse also produced and engineered content for Air Canada’s in-flight jazz programming. In the late 1990s, his company curated Canadian jazz content for distribution to Sam Goody’s, VH1, MTV, Bell Media and many more. Currently, Jesse hosts a syndicated radio program that is delivered to more than 20 stations across Canada, the U.S., the U.K., France, Africa and more.

Together they host Soul Nation on Tuesdays from 9 pm to midnight.
