The Art of Time Ensemble’s 2017/18 season has been announced.
Among the events, hosted at Harborufront Centre, include A Singer Must Die – which celebrates the legacy of Leonard Cohen. According to the company, “Six singers, six writers, and six instrumentalists will perform a program including songs, readings and anecdotes. Cohen songs from Art of Time’s archives will be remounted, along with new arrangements of additional music.”
For art lovers, Sound and Colour features Alexander Scriabin’s 24 Preludes for solo piano, each in a musical key corresponding to Scriabin’s synesthetic correlation of colour and sound, will be performed by Burashko and bathed in a unique light-field experience crafted by esteemed lighting designer Kevin Lamotte (Shaw Festival).
And for the second year in a row, Art of Time will put on their All We Are Saying Festival, in the spring. The weekend feature music across all genres, and mixes historical and political messaging. During the The Songs Program, May 10 & 12, music by Marvin Gaye, John Lennon, Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder, Randy Newman, and so many more will be performed.
