And after a couple weeks of previews, Garth Drabinsky re-enters the theatre world with Sousatzka.

The Canadian theatre impresario is as famous for his grand productions as he is infamous for his troubles with the law. His reentry into the stage conversation is ‘Sousatzka’ and it’s being mounted at the Elgin Theatre. It’s based on the novel ‘Madame Sousatzka’ by Bernice Rubens. The story follows a musician being torn between two powerful influences, his mother and his piano teacher. Musically; a fusion of South African, Eastern European, Classical, Jazz and contemporary sounds. There’s a Tony Award-winning cast attached to this show as well. The life and times of singer, actor, dancer, poet and all around renaissance man, Gene Kelly, will be explored by his loving wife Patricia Ward Kelly this Thursday night at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Mark Wigmore spoke to Patricia about Gene and her upcoming show.
