The Artistry Of ... Earl Klugh

This week's Artistry of...   Features Earl Klugh

I met him and then watched him some years ago walk out on stage to perform. He smiled and acknowledged the applause. He sat down on the stool placed for him at center stage and began to play. The music he made immediately embraced and held the audience. He changed their gears. He captured them. He’d done that with his smile alone. When he played it was that easy smile plus the warmth of tone. It was a warmth and vibrancy.  I am convinced that tone, warmth and vibrancy are collective traits of his glowing personality. It can lift a spirit and consume attention the same way you react to someone saying, listen. The artistry is making the music warm.
