The 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees announced

Rock Hall of FameTom Waits, Alice Cooper, Neil Diamond, Dr. John, and Darlene Love are the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s newest inductees during a ceremony this morning. Other honorees include Leon Russell, who is receiving an award for musical excellence, along with Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman and Specialty label head Art Rupe, both of whom will receiver non-performer honors.

Bill Merritt A musician’s who’s-who planned for one of city’s best bass players

Several of Winnipeg’s best-loved musicians and personalities have joined forces to organize, promote and perform at a Benefit concert Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 for one of the city’s most legendary musicians. Bill Merritt, one of the best bass players to ever come out of the city, has been recently diagnosed with a brain tumour after having survived cancer about 17 years ago, when he was told he only had five years to live.
