    New Canadian Global Music Orchestra

    Concert Date: June 2nd, 2017 at 8:00PM
    Venue: Koerner Hall

The Royal Conservatory is bringing together professional musicians from all over the world, all of whom now live in Canada, to create the New Canadian Global Music Orchestra!

The ensemble is sharing each other’s culture and music traditions as they rehearse, compose, and give workshops and community concerts throughout spring.  This extended residency will allow the ensemble to form a cohesive unit and to create music that is, arguably, only possible in Toronto.  All of this culminates with a celebratory concert at Koerner Hall on June 2, 2017. Together, we find a common language.

What is Canadian music in 2017? How will we define it?  Who are the musicians who will create and perform it?  Where else but in Canada today, at this moment, can artists from different traditions come together to create a new body of work or, even, a new tradition?

The Royal Conservatory have thought about these questions, and have answered them with the New Canadian Global Music Orchestra.
