    ARTS TORONTO September 3rd EDITION

This Sunday from 8-9am, it’s another edition of Arts Toronto with your host Mark Wigmore on Jazz FM 91

    This episode:

Mark Kelso is the Irish-born, and Canadian-raised percussion hot shot who has a musical resume as long as your arm. Since taking up the drums as a youngster, Mark has climbed to dizzying heights, leading bands, being hired as a sideman by some of the best, and running the percussion department at Humber College. He even has his own drumming instructional DVD! Some of those all-star collaborations include Pat Metheny, Michael Buble, Molly Johnson, Mike Stern, John Scofield, Olivia Newton John and Herbie Hancock. He's also the leader of the Juno-nominated jazz-fusion combo, Mark Kelso's Jazz Exiles. Next week he will take part in an exciting new event, The Toronto Undergraduate Jazz Festival. Mark Kelso sits down with Mark Wigmore in the Jazz FM91 studios for a conversation that touches on everything from Country music to Bruce Lee!

And, TIFF looms large!! The Toronto International Film Festival returns for its 42nd edition, remaining one of the most popular film events in the world. Once again in 2017, TIFF will feature hundreds of thoughtful and inventive films from around the globe. It's also the unofficial kick-off of Oscar season, with about a dozen titles already being touted as front runners. With General Public Single Tickets going on sale Monday September 4th, Mark presents a comprehensive preview including music related films, documentaries, award season favorites and full length features.

All that, Garvia Bailey's "Giant Steps", and beautiful jazz for a summer Sunday morning.
