    Emily Steinwall

    Emily Steinwall in an emerging tenor saxophone player, flautist and bandleader in Toronto’s jazz scene. Being heavily influenced by John Coltrane, Dexter Gordon and Lester Young, she has a deep respect and connection to jazz history while still maintaining a fresh approach to improvising and composing. Emily performs frequently in Toronto as a leader with her group Bloom, and as a side-musician with various groups including: the Virginia Macdonald Group, Mason Victoria’s Sonuskapos Jazz Orchestra, Tom Upjohn’s We Are All, The Anthology Project and the Funny Funk Band. Emily is currently in her final year of Humber College’s Bachelor of Music program.

    Jacqueline Teh

    Canadian vocalist Jacqueline Teh is currently pursuing a Masters in Jazz Performance at the University of Toronto, where she completed her Bachelors, while remaining an active performer and composer in both choral and jazz communities. She has performed at several venues in Toronto and at U of T singing in various ensembles and styles. She has worked with renowned Canadian jazz musicians such as Mike Murley and Terry Promane and has sung in masterclasses for Dave Liebman and Norma Winstone.

    Matt Lagan

    Toronto based Saxophonist, composer and bandleader Matt Lagan is “an exciting Canadian voice on the tenor saxophone” (Nancy Walker) and is one of the most recognized jazz students in Canada. He is the winner of the Oscar Peterson Grant for Jazz Performance, a prestigious award given to one student each year from across the country. “Matt’s recent project, Tribute to Michael Brecker was a superb presentation!” (Mark Promane). It features original compositions of his own and and his arrangements of Michael Brecker’s music. They have performed a Michael Brecker Tribute concert at Humber College and at the Rex Jazz and Blues Hotel.
    His most recent project features Toronto based musicians Ewen Farncombe, Jessica Chen, Austin Gembora and Holt Stuart-Hitchcox. They will be releasing an EP in the spring of 2017.

    Devon Savas

    Twenty-year-old Hamilton native Devon Savas is an active bassist in the GTA region. After growing up in a musical household and taking an interest in the arts at a young age, Devon immersed himself in a handful of stylistic spectrum. He would take on a wide variety of instruments over the years; he would eventually devote himself to jazz music as a bass player, beginning in his high school years.

    Alyssa Giammaria

    Born and raised in Hamilton Ontario, Alyssa Giammaria has been singing and playing piano from a very young age. She grew up in the theatre performing in musicals and began classical voice training at the age of 12. She is now in her final year of Mohawk’s Music Program and studies privately with Sophia Perlman.
